View Full Version : Personal way to motivate yourself when you trick alone

I see videos of people tricking by themselves and they pull out intense tricks. I usually train with 1 person and sometimes by myself and its so god damn hard to motivate myself to try new tricks and to put everything I have into my tricking, so I turn to music. How do you personally motivate myself when you're tricking alone or in a small group?

I go alone in parks and it's funny to see old people look at you strangely

JUST DO IT !

If I don't feel special that day I just stick to drilling basics, otherwise I just go for it, and say fuck it if I look like some crashing retard

i got the same problem of motivating myself to go outside and trick on my own :( it sux cos that means i can only trick when my m8's come with me. i get motivated by rob when im with him and i motivate him half the time :) thats easy but i just feel that i can only do basics when im out on my own cos i dont wanna look like i am failing at everything...but when i do basics it feels like people will look at me and think, "well thats shit!" so yer... and i dont have a dockbay or mp3 or anything as you well know rob :)

As allready mentioned, Camera and tripod = your bestest friends!

When I trick alone it's mostly to drill some moves, it doesn't have to be basics but just something you have your mind settled to practice. Just be really determind about it.

I did this in spain before BG 08 it worked really well for me, I drilled all kinds of moves, c kicks, double B's, corks and variations, hooks everyhting because I knew that I was going to trick hard when I got home. I guess that you have to have some sort of goal before you go out and trick alone.

That's the tips that I got, man. Hope it helps^^

AH idk what's so hard about tricking alone! Music, camera, and half an ounce of motivation is all it takes. Once im there i can barely get myself to leave. Two, even four hour sessions are possible alone if you have these things w/ you :wicked:
Try using this as motivation: train by yourself and surprise your friends

I dno, if i trick alone i get into a different mind set and i just get focused and drill stuff and whatever, its maybe not fun in teh same sense as tricking with others but it has its rewards.

find someone to come with you to the park/gym so you can talk with them. it doesn't matter if they cant trick, as long as you got someone to share your tricks with.

I've done this. But I feel like people don't really appreciate tricks unless they actually trick themselves. I've tricked in front of most of my friends and all they care about is seeing a backflip. Either that or I do a c7 and they see it as a backflip. Then that just pisses me off.

Before you go out have a reason, Is it just Tricking... Or Training?
Take MP3 with a good pumpy hardcore Playlist!

Trick for the feeling, Put everything into it!

EDIT: Something i have always believed in, Every trick you do adds more power, control, height. Although most of the tricks i have by myself my tricks are worse than when i trick with people due to less motivation i still know that all my alone tricks is what makes me trick so well when im around people!

So when its pouring hard in the freezing cold rain, overcast and windy. And i am out there tricking slipping over and barely landing a thing. I know that next hot sunny day i am tricking with others i will be on top of my game!

You're always too busy with school and cheering comps you piece of shit.

But anyway I'm more worried about this for when I go to college this fall. I've tricked alone occasionally over the past year and I'm not looking forward to being able to trick with people only after a 3 hour drive. Even more than that I'm taking my car off the road to save money. NO BODY is as far up into NH as I'm going to be. I'm going to be a lonely breakfast sandwich:depressed

Totally good point man! I haven't thought like that for a long time. May help me when I'm healed up and ready to trick again =D

Elbow deep is the only way to be in asshole Dave, you of all people should know this. I'm still out to let my finger heal. I'm out of work for 6 god damned weeks too. I NEED MUNEEZ FO REAL.

And Dave C., I've heard nothing but wonderful things about Endorush from Armstrong...I'll give that a try. And I'm currently following all those steps you listed toward a goal sampler. Thanks bruvner

Goal establishment is one of the most useful skills to learn in LIFE, let alone tricking

Makes getting from point A to point B so much easier when you have checkpoints along the way.

I actually really prefer to train alone (with camera). Motivation is simple, im bettering myself nothing external needed. I usually use music, although sometimes I find it distracting and turn it off.
