Hey people.
I have recently learned a 540, and have tried a different approach to J-steps, and I'm working on getting enough height in a gainer flash so that I can cork, can anyone give me any advice?

EDIT:
This thread is now about corks.
What am I doing wrong?

540 looks okay, still needs tweaking, what ever youll just get better the more you do it, and your g-flash looks good, but can you fulltwist cause that helps a bunch with corks

I can't fulltwist, mainly because my roundoff sucks, but I can off a height. My previous attempts at corks were gainerfulls landed on knees/face if that helps.

About 7 months now, mainly learning basic tricks for freerunning, but I just recently decided to trick properly. As in, start stringing moves together and such.

ahh yeah just watched it,, uhmm, u need to flip over in a cork, and you dont even go horizontal, try to gainer then cork, not cork right from then jump, you have to set first, then spin and flip around at the same time to make for a good landing

Looking at Scotty's double cork s/t double cork video, his second double is only just past horizontal, does that mean that a normal cork that's just past horizontal still counts?

About your 540: Bend your kicking leg on your way up, and only kick out when it reaches its target. You can view my tutorial here: http://www.vimeo.com/1425813

As for the cork, i can't land the move so i can't give you tips, but i would like to say that i think you should go for a slightly inverted cork not to make it "count" (there are no real rules in tricking), but rather because it looks better :)

Have fun training!

Alright here's the deal with the cork. Watch your takeoff. Watch it frame by frame if you can. Notice when you are just starting to jump your leg bends and already starts trying to twist. You're rushing into your cork. It's usually what happens to people that are new to corks. When you do this it causes all the momentum you're trying to build up to stop. With a cork everything has to flow. Do your J-step or whatever setup you get comfortable with, throw that leg and keep it reasonably straight, the straighter it is the more momentum you have to work off of.

Your arms aren't too bad, at least you're throwing them up. Some people don't even swing them up. The only problem is you're swinging them the wrong way . You're swinging them up and to the right. I know that sounds like it should be the right direction but try my advice. Try throwing your arms straight up, since your setup and leg is automatically going in a diagonal direction. Trying to swing your arms straight up will help throw your body into a more horizontal direction while twisting. Right now your body isn't quite horizontal.

Like I said everything should flow and connect. Your arms and legs should swing up bring all your momentum up and diagonally, this will just make your body have a more natural motion of twisting. This way you won't have to force that twist so hard.

Usually when people are just learning corks they feel that they aren't landing it because they can't twist fast enough. Of course it's one of the reasons but that's the last part of it. You have to look at the source of the move and what makes it so that people can twist fast enough, and that's the momentum you build up and throw up there.

I know that's a lot of info but just keep on practicing man. You can get it you just gotta work hard! Good luck!:juji:

Good luck with training ..
All i can say, 540 is good enough .. just drill those ..
And corks, your throwing-leg should almost go higher then your head to make the flip ..
And as Scalco said, your twist is good already.

I was working on my corks, and I think I'm much closer to landing them. Am I doing it right, or is there something I need to fix, other than unwrapping later, that is.
