Hey TT, for english i am required to either do a long, boring research paper, or I can create my own magazine. Seems to be an easy choice, and what better to make a magazine about then tricking! I think I can have a lot of fun doing this, but I may need a little assistance from you guys. My teacher makes his own underground magazine every month, so if this turns out to be something really fun to do then I'm sure I can get his help in making something like this happen on a regular basis.
So what I wanna do: I want to first off talk about the origins and the ideas behind tricking. I know of a few sources I can use for this, so it shouldn't be a problem, but if you can think of something really good to put in then please suggest. I want to do categories on things such as upcoming gatherings, newest tricks being done/chased, maybe something about different teams, battles and challenges that are going on, results of previous battles and challenges, tips and tutorials for tricking and health, recent injuries and maybe a little segment to wish people luck for recovery, and also maybe some of the progress that tricking has gotten people in their lives, or just cool things and places that people have seen through tricking.
A lot of this info i will be able to get on my own, and I will be doing a lot more research on my own time. But I figured some of you may have some good ideas that your are willing to throw out there. So feel free to suggest whatever. If this is something I can eventually manage, then maybe I will try and keep up with a monthly zine or something. And if not, well then lets just shoot for a good grade.
Thanks a lot all!

Definately the tricking bible
club540
bilang.com
the loopkicks site
and of course trickstutorials (especially for upcoming gatherings)

this sounds like a good idea, I wish you luck and a good grade

EDIT: OH AND WE CAN'T FORGET THE BYN

-tricking history is really subjective but i think the general consensus is people saw what they were doing in open forms like naska. And people really liked what they were doing, but didnt want all the fuss of doing forms and started just doing kicks for fun. and it kind took off from there.

-name some of the big gatherings like cln,ny gathering, ect..

-see if you can get some of the tricksters on tt to donate their tricking pictures to u.

Here is an outline of a presentation I did for my English class. (http://www.justtheskills.com/index.php?act=show_writeup&v_id=11) It could be expanded into a paper, but you don't want that, though you can still probably glean some points from it to use in a magazine, if only for a reference.

Unfortunately, one thing I ran into when doing papers or whatever about Tricking for class is the severe lack of documented information about Tricking even on the Internet haha, which makes it hard to collect information and cite sources etc.

Yeah i already told my english teacher a little about tricking and how new it is. he understood that i cant find anything on the databases, so he said i can just do my own thing and find my own references.
Thanks a lot for all the info by the way guys, keep it coming

i'd say discuss the confusion between tricking and capoeira and parkour. we are totally not similar yet always get bunched into the same groups.

We aren't the exact same thing, but we do draw a lot from capoeira, so it isn't right to say that we aren't similar at all.

But I do still dislike the comparison to parkour, free running, and the people who think that this is for fighting. You should make a point about that to shut up all of the idiots who say "you can't use that in a real fight"

Most def. I hear that a lot from my friend who is big into martial arts. he is always saying "nice kicks... for tricking, wouldnt be good in a fight."
thanks for reminding me of that though, will be sure to add it.
