I really don't know the nutrition facts of strawberry preserves. Would they take away from any nutritional values? They come in a jar.

They won't "take away" anything - depends on what you mean by nutritional value. Just treat them as a high sugar ingredient (good post workout but don't fuck around with your insulin all day long)

The "preserves" are pretty much just a few strawberries watered down with lots of sugar and gelatin, maybe some pectin. They can't call it jam because it doesn't have enough actual strawberry in it. Treat it as sugar in a shake, and it won't cause any undesired effects, unless the protein shake is made with soy-protein, in which case the digestion of the gelatin(and consequently substances dissolved within the gelatin) might not occur fully.

You could just get the sugar free preserves. Some of them suck but others like blueberry and strawberry taste fine. If i feel like having PB&J then I use that on REAL whole grain wheat bread...the stuff that makes you crap within 30 minutes because of the fiber content, lol. (sarcasm) but yeah thats a good alternative.
