Im 14, and I was considering starting to include whey powder in my diet (for liek protein shakes and shit). I was just wondering if Im too young to be using this shit, and if you can become reliant on it. Also, am I old enough to buy it?

Whey protein is just a kind of protein. That's like saying you're going to start including protein in your diet (a little redundant don't you think). It's just an addition to any protein you're already getting. You don't think you're getting enough from whole foods or something? That's the only reason to take it. It's not a magical powder that'll transform you. Why do really want it? What are you goals in terms of training? I'm fairly certain there's no age requirement from simple whey haha.

Unless you are weight training to get bigger, you have no need for it. If you think "Oh hey, Lemme get some protein and I'll get bigger." you are dearly mistaken.

Start out with some basic weight training and procure some decent strength, you can get all the protein you need from sources like milk and meat. I doubt you really need it at age 14.

It's hard to not get reliant on something that the body needs to sustain survival.

Yeah, Im persuaded. Ill spend the £17 on something pointless like I normally would. And about being old enough to buy it, the peeps in asda get really pissy. Just because it comes in a big tub, and Im young and have short hair, they'll probably assume that I'm using for some dangerous high. I was stopped buying eggs the other day, because of the recent mizzy night egg pandemic (which I was involved in but thats beside the point).

What? You were just looking for something to spend money on and this seemed like a good idea at the time? *sigh*

No, I just hear the term protein shake being thrown around alot, so I was contemplating giving them a try. Now I realise that I was being blissfully ignorant. Neway, incase I wanted it, I put the £17 aside from the coffers incase I decided to buy it. Now Im gonna buy a waterbomb catapult from firebox.

Does anybody ever read basic nutrition and stuff about supplementing these days?

I think we need more stickies in here...

Stickies don't actually make a damn bit of difference.

Stickies deter people who have enough common sense to read them. But, they don't deter n00bs who come here and post once, asking a question thats there's at least a hundred threads on.

No trust me. They do shit all no matter who you are.

why the emphasis on the "to"?

Must be some absurd swedish intonation.

I giggled a little repeating that sentence out loud with the emphasis.

For fucks sake i don't even know what's going on in this thread right now. No your not too young to use it. No, you will not become reliant on it. Yes, you are old enough to buy it.
Questions answered, /thread.

You're not asking for any advice beyond that, so do whatever the hell you want with the whey.

BigBadDave, train a lot and eat a lot and take whey.

If you don't train a lot in addition to eating a lot, taking whey will have minimal effects.

If you're really curious just go for it though.

Yeah there's only one whey to find out!

The money you would spend on whey spend it on food instead
