What show is he actually trying to get on? His son should learn how to spot & he should learn how to keep his thumbs around the bar before he's eating 300lbs of cold steel post-'chest' workout instead of cream, because we all know that he isn't actually benching 600, right?

We can't be certain, but it is definitely suspect. He's probably using those plates that are found at the Arnold where they make you look like you're pushing ridiculous numbers, the rattling certainly sounds like they're light plates.

there was this a big discussion about the vid somewhere and andy (the bodybuilder in the vid) posted too. he also mentioned it on a podcast that the weight legit. he said he was always pretty strong.
he was trying to get on the gladiator show or what's it called.

but in the end...who knows...maybe fake plates...maybe not...and who fu**ing cares ;)

The only thing that's important is how much he's really pressing. If he doesn't want to use a spotter, maybe it's because he's afraid he might give up if he had one. Some people need pressure like "only I can save myself from being killed by this bar" maybe.

As for collars, plates only fall off if the bar doesn't remain level. If you tilt the bar too much, you're sort of in trouble anyway. If the plates can fall off, bounce off the floor, and kill his family, then he will be more pressured to keep the bar level.

If he wants to act like a boy-loving Athenian to become stronger than a Spartan than who cares?
