Anyone here ever strain their lower back quite harshly doing a relatively normal or random activity? For example one day I was practicing simple 360 degree jump spins all nice and easy, then one time I went up for the jump and I felt a sharp pain in my lower back, after which time I could hardly bend over for a few days. Pretty random, there was no awkward landing or impact to cause it.

What are your guys' experience with such?

Yep, I got it doing almost exactly the same thing, I was jump spinning 900 degrees excessively(I don't trick so powerfully twisting my ass around isn't something I'm used to). I decided to take some codeine I found lying around, I used it sparingly, but still developed dependency on it. It wasn't very nice when my back pain had gone & I had to stop using it, took around a week & half. The pain was almost paralysing.

Haha that's happened to me. I was just sitting down and it randomly happened (sharp pain in my mid back). I was told I pinched a nerve and that it'd go away in a couple days. For those couple days, I could barely move. D:

That happened to me in middle school randomly and unprovoked and I had to walk hunched for a couple days.

I was doing sitting trunk rotations. I went too fast and then my back hurt for the next 6 months. Terrible experience, really.

All the time, but I've herniated discs, and so on. In fact, I can't remember the last time in the last 7 years where I have been pain-free in my lower back area.

plenty of times. once doing a RO back.... once.... i didn't stretch at all, threw a hook kick (when i was first learning them) and ruined me for the rest of the night and hurt for about a week. The most recent one. I was having a really bad session. gave up, and walked up the hill to my house and when i was walking up the steps, i got that horrible lower back paralyzing pain. idk why... i was just walking up the stairs... but all of them last about a week. that last one is JUST going away right now.

I get some pretty bad pain when doing butterfly kicks or any variation of the hook kick. Started last November :eh:. Anyone got any tips for remedies?

ive been pretty fortunate with back stuff, however my father seemed to have separated one of his spine bones from another. hard to explain but think it like tectonic plates. anyways he could walk or move for a week until he saw a chiropractor. all he did was bend down to tie his shoes too fast. stretch your back guys:)

Too bad he went to see that chiropractor. That would have been cool to see him move tectonic plates for a whole week without rest.

Oddly enough, I've never once hurt my back doing anything athletic, but I feel like I pull ligaments all the time when I lie in odd unilateral positions playing PS2.

Somewhere around my sacrum hurts after i do a few b-twists, i think its because my landing sucks badly, because i still slightly touch the ground with my hands after landing...need to twist faster or gain height...

Ashtar, you have never done anything athletic in your life.

Sure I have, haha. I have played sports and competed in tournaments. It is just not very impressive.

I've been suffering from chronic back pain since September. My physical therapist thinks it's ligament damage and says it may never go away. Boo : (
