At work (I work in a gym) we just got an email from Australia Kettlebells and they are coming to Brisbane and holding a series of Level 1 Kettlebell workshops. They are offering this for about $100 and the opportunity to buy cheap kettlebells off them myself.

I have never trained with kettlebells, nor does my gym have any. I am interested to know peoples take on kettlebell training. So far I have only heard great things about them and core work.

Can anyone tell me whether this 'course' would be worth it? Are training with kettlebells worth while? and/or investing in my own is a good idea?

Thanks in advance!

EDIT: Fuck tits! I just saw the date and it is the two days of nationals I will be playing in Newcastle. Well...

Just another tool in the shed. Not the end all. Not worth the money.

I can't say whether the course is worth it without knowing who is doing it. Honestly, those things generally are pretty overpriced, I'd only ever pay triple digits if it were Tsatsouline himself there.

There ARE things you can do with kettlebells that you can't with dumbbells, it alters the subtleties of a lot of movements. The question is not whether or not they provide an advantage, but whether that slight advantage is worth the huge amounts of money these tend to cost compared to cheaper dumbbells.
