I wanna get stronger and bigger. It feels like it's too late for me :eh: I'm 16 turning 17 this December and I weigh 132 Ilbs roughly.
I need some motivation.
Also, sorry for the lame post. This wasn't supposed to be some sob story or a thread for me to whine about but I feel that I need some motivation so that I can feel like it IS possible to gain muscle at this point
Thanks
This is the prime time for you to start. You are still in your youth, life is just beginning! Start now! The future is bright and holds many treasures of muss!

You feel it's too late and you're only 16? You've got your whole life ahead of you. I'm 24 and would still consider myself young of course. There's always setbacks but as long as you don't seriously cause permanent damage to yourself you can always get better. You're being a little vague though. How are you injuring yourself? Doing what exactly?

Too late to gain muscle? You're still growing!! Do your research tonight and tomorrow, and get your ass in the gym on Monday.

Don't worry. You're definitely not too late! Just start eating more food during the day, and do compound exercises. And do all of this on a consistent basis.
Also... Really push yourself in the gym and the gains will come accordingly.

Well I get injured pretty often. Like just yesterday, injured my shoulder after trying a backhandspring on grass. I think it buckled. It hurts pretty bad today and I can't lift my left arm straight up against my head without it hurting. It also feels like I may have strained it. Oh and I think I may have gymnast wrist :/
Plus I've had lower back pain for a long time now. Probably for 3 years or 4 maybe. My chiropractor said it's most likely a strength problem and that I should condition it. I've never focused working on my lower back though, thinking that all the tricking, TKD, and running (I do track and field for school) that I do would take care of it. But still, it hurts today whenever I lean back too far or sometimes when I bend over.
Idk. I might just be over-thinking it and my injuries might seem normal. It just seems like everyone else who tricks get far less injuries as I do, especially at a slower pace

Your training to gain muscle and all that though right? Now obviously people do both but I for one have usually done either one, but not at the same time. I spent the last 4 months workout without tricking and because of severe headaches problems I had to stop so I resumed tricking again. I've got power and whatnot I didn't before and I'm enjoying that at least. I guess a sort of on and off season between the two activities is what I prefer, that way I can put my focus entirely into one or the other. I don't have to worry about one affected the other.

You're doing pretty good injury wise buddy, your lower back is easy to fix if it's just strength, and that happens to my shoulder, and you just need to condition it. Start doing some pullups, dumbell presses and external rotation exercises for your shoulder and pretty much anything will give your lower back strength, so get into some squats, press, deadlifts - these kinds of big movements that will get you strong. For a "weak" person, you don't want to be doing bicep curls or lots of machine work like smith machines and stuff. Get down to a gym near you and get a personal trainer(someone knowledgable would be good) for a couple of sessions, or maybe your track and field coaches can help you out. Gymnastics is a great upper body strength builder if you're most worried about that, and it'll give you solid shoulders if you train hard.
For an injury comparison, I have a subluxating shoulder, a dodgey ankle, a borderline lower back, extremely tight calves, crappy turf toe. I used to focus on them and it gets you frustrated, but they will only hold you back if you don't make them better or at least work around them.
Have fun!

don't listen to these guys, they're lying. they just want you to get injured. It's too risky to start as late as 16. It's over, it's too late now
Ed Corney was a pro bodybuilder and didn't start lifting till he was in his 30's.
Also, it takes like three years training max to make 90% of the gains you're ever going to if you do it half decently. You get to a certain point then nothing really happens unless you start taking steroids.

Thanks Swartz :D
It sucks that I have such "hard to reach" goals too. Like I want a double backflip REALLY badly. It's one of my most wanted tricks but it just seems like my body won't be able to endure the training to even come close to landing one on floor. Even though it's not a trick that requires much physical demand, I just know that I will get injured one way or another due to my frailty T.T

You can't be serious....I'm 26 years old and I'm still out there almost everyday working out, training, tricking. I started getting into shape when I was 16. When I was younger and older people said shit like "it seemed like only yesterday" it really seems like just yesterday dude...ARGH!! Although, I don't miss my highschool that's for sure, lmao.
I work with this 62 year old man and he said "I feel like I'm only dreaming I'm this old and I'm gonna wake up tomorrow and be 20 again" I guess the years do seem to fly by once you hit 20. I didn't want to turn 18 when I was 17, lol.
So yeah, get out there and start having fun and learning I mean you can't give up when its hard. After all, this THING we all do here is the byproduct of hard work and thats huge part of this.
Incidentally my master has told me something his father taught him and he has repeated it to me several times,in broken English of course, what ancient asian pearl of wisdom would be complete without it?
He said "If you want successful life always mind 3 thing...Mind your tongue, mind your fist, and mind your gochu" (korean for chile pepper, i.e. penis, lmao)
So yeah, don't talk badly about anyone, don't fight, and keep your dick in your pants so you can focus on what's important and you'll have a good life. So there you go, that was my advice. PEACE!!!!!
