i try this sometimes but it always seems i land with my feet too far apart after the illusion. any tips on how to better position myself after landing the illusion twist? =)

try doing after that frog or a jumping front kick
or pop 360 > pop 720 etc
or sweep > pop 360 > or just go pop 720
and now that i read what you actualy asked
try squeezing your butt!

Illusion is essentially 360crescent [hyper180\], so practice landing that kick with your legs about shoulder width (or wherever you takeoff for these pop kicks). From there, your biggest concern will be making sure you stand up (if your weight is behind you as you land, it wont matter where your feet are!) and as biyak suggested, try with smaller kicks first till you really get used to taking off into these moves.
One other thing that may help- try landing the illusion kick leg FIRST, so that the other leg takes a split second to catch up. This will give you a little time to right yourself before you go off into the next trick!

forgot i made this but iv actually combo'd illusions a few times into dleg and 720
