Hey guys! I was wondering if the cork is safe enough to make your first attempts on grass without a mat. Thanks!

well i landed on my head trying the first time (luckily on a mat on top of a foam pit), but thats cuz my gainer sucked at the time. Get a good gainer and your set.

i know a cheat code to get corks instantly. do a gainer out of the step over - step out, and when you start to spin, just go with it. it works.
I tried my first corks outside.

well... that's encouraging.
del i did the same, and i lost j step corks, i have learnt to scoot cork really well but i cant jstep them for shit ha ha
Any move is safe if you go about it the safe way.
I'd say the safest way to learn corks (and I'd argue the best way) is to learn gainer halftwist or gainer arabian and then late twist that (making it a full rotation). That way, you're cork will have enough "flip" so that you're feel will come down first, no matter where you are in the twist. Being able to btwist or fulltwist comfortably will help immensely. I think the best way to learn a trick is to drill prerequisites until you are truly ready for the trick- that way when you finally learn it, it will be yours forever and you won't have to worry about "losing it" or any of the bullcrap :good:
Keep in mind: if you think you're going to crash, most likely you will
If you think you're going to land, most likely you will
grass is just as safe as gym floor, and mats are really only safer if you're not landing all awkward. Sand is also a great surface to learn tricks on, i think :good:
good luck!

going from grass to sand i just started doing and its helped insanely, i never go to a gym so i never tried alot of moves. i got double leg hook, hyperhook, dub btwist and cork properly in about 7 minutes

no im saying like a volleyball feild at the beach surrounded by grass, you do the trick jumping off grass but landing in sand

Espacially the part about losing tricks without pre-reqs...
I hate when some 13 year old makes a post about how he can fulltwist without learning to bflip or w/e, I've landed alot of sht without any pre-reqs only to lose or crash the move a couple weeks later and having to go through the normal progression :ogre:
To me, a cork seems like a pre-req for a fulltwist.
Fulls are bitches...

If you have decent aerial awareness, and can do gainers comfortably then you should be fine trying corks outside

high five to that one,
at times i feel more comfortable on sand than plyo, and i can trick betta on sand than grass ha ha

i was thinking about makig this a separate topic....but...it pertains well here
my mom got me this bed mat thing that i started using for tricking, pretty good cushioning
ive been drilling b-twists corks and aerials onto it
(a little awkward for corks cuz its hard to aim to land on the mat)
Hide-a-mat pack and go...think thats what its called
it was $50 at costco and im gonna wrap it in tarp from my pool, or just some basic plastic wrapping from my old bed
well... that's encouraging.
ha i didnt mean it like that, i was just sharing my experience

i cant seem to grasp the concept of scoots for some reason, i lose alot of momentum when i try >,<

lol thanks for making me scared to try corks again! gosh! haha
And I was the same way with the scoots till my friends made me drill it. One of them said you have to land it like you're landing a btwist. I don't know how you do them but my problem was that I was staying crouched. So I had to try to reach more and come from a higher angle.

dont worry man you will get the hang of them, really try and swing ur body round and use the momentum from that, you will be happy when you get the feel for them

scoot is the easiest for me too.
To be comfortable with twisting horizontaly anywhere you should drill to torque and drill 720's vertically, from there you will gain confidence on spinning just enough for one spin horizontaly. Scoot is easy because you will feel that you are not that far from the ground and even if you do fall, it won't hurt as much.
The secret to tricking when you want to twist and do doubles is just drilling your torques. Drill Drill Drill.
1. Good gainer
2. Good hight
3. Balls dont get scared go at it full, a halff assed attempt HURTS the most!
