View Full Version : Ankle Braces what's good and what's not?
I would like to go buy an ankle brace for tricking since I landed kind of funny and my ankle feels weird at random times when I'm doing what ever, but it doesn't hurt. My friend lent me his ankle brace and it worked wonders. So I'm going to go buy my own what's a good ankle brace for tricking? One with laces and straps or...? Feed back please.

What was the one you borrowed?
Ask your friend where he got it. It's a personal thing really, like a shoe.

i've found that tape works the best. sometimes you cant really get braces tight enough

Tape is great, but it can be a pain in the ass at times.
I'm thinking about investing in a brace myself, I've fucked my right ankle up from poor aerial and hypertwist landings in the past, and I'm paying for it now. I don't want it affecting my lifting, so I'm a bit past prevention, haha.
Tape is a great solution for the temporary, but I'd suggest consulting your doctor and a sports medicine specialist for these kind of things. They can do you wonders, as it's their job.

According to this, at least in the case of taping (and I would assume a brace would come to about the same conclusion), it's nothing more than a strong placebo effect that's making you guys feel like the tape is helping.

Do you have a link to that article? Taping amounting to nothing but a placebo effect seems somewhat unbelievable. hmm...
Edit: nevermind, googled it.
Also, it seems the article was studying its use as injury prevention as opposed to injury support, pain relief, rehab etc.
