For those of you who do them, do you do them with elbows straight, almost straight (slight bend), or 90 degree bend like this:

I figure with 90 degrees you can lift more weight and that it would also be working your external rotator muscles which are usually weak and need exercise anyway. The only thing is, in this video the hands seem to be higher than the elbows. This would put the rotators in a stronger position and the forearms would not be totally horizantal, approaching an upward press and deemphasizing the lever stress upon the rotators.

Also, it puts the anterior delt on top instead of the medial delt, which I think shifts more work, and the purpose of lateral raises (why people do them instead of overhead presses, except those who have mega-weak triceps or injuries or something) is I think to emphasize the medial portion.

Also, I like gnomes.

Watching...

EDIT: Watch how you use "medial". Medial actually means facing the midline of the body, not middle. There isn't such thing as a medial portion of the deltoid. I'm sure you meant middle portion, however, which would be the lateral aspect of the deltoid.

Yeah that's correct, I think a lot of people must be making that mistake or I wouldn't have picked it up, unless it's trying to be fancy using fancier sounding words. I should stick to lateral, since it's a lateral raise after all. I wonder if 'side' would also work, I think so.

I wonder, since people work the front shoulders in pushups/overhead press, would it make more sense to just work the rear delts:

I figure both movements need to recruit the middle fibres to some degree... or do you think that someone could end up having large anterior/posterior fibres and then it just collapses in the middle? I'm not sure if I've seen that or not.

Yes.

No.

The second one was an 'A or B' so I'm not sure which you said no to.

My anterior delts are overdeveloped, im a shoulder dominant presser

Cool so you would only have to do posterior delt work. I think rows also work with that right? Just like pressing there are elbows in and elbows out rows. I figure the elbows-in would recruit more lats and out, more trap/rhomboid. I'm not really sure which is better at posterior though.

Overhead work involves all of the musculature surrounding the shoulder.

Do you even train Ashtar? Or do you just read about it?

Yes, I do, I just totally pressed 2 50lb dumbbells over my head, I was so proud, but then I was ashamed I could not do it a second time. Plus I totally chinupped with a 20lb dumbbell. I just checked my weight was 200lbs so that's 10%. But once again, could not a second time. Mostly I think I need to work on endurance.

I think everyone is gay for Scooby. Anyway I haven't really seen his legs, it does seem like he focuses more on upper body work, but I don't really care, people can focus on their fortes.

You can clearly see his legs in the "reverse fly" video.

The man is a faggot in my opinion. I don't know how his little pencil legs support his disgusting upper body.

An upper body like that's a nice foundation for building lower since it gives you places to rest barbells for squats and enough muscle to hold it for deadlifts.

Agreed.

However, by this stage in his life he should already have some meaty legs. Maybe he's one of those guys with naturally bitchy legs.

Meh I'd still rather be like him than like me.
