hi guys just wondering how many people are able do this exercise, i got board with my training about 6months ago and i saw it being done at a beach by some guy, looked impressive so i thought id train for it,
can only hold it for about 2seconds on each side, legs are'nt fully straight but im getting there... anyone else train for it?

I remember when I could easily do 'em at a bodyweight of around 130lbs, haha!

Everyone should be trained from birth to do stuff like this, it's the sort of thing that'd be so much fun few would forget it.

you mean the full-flag or does that count too?

if it does count, then yeah, i can do it
edit: i can hold it for about 10-20 seconds right now, i'm working on the "moving up and downwards" part and on the "spin around" part right now..
edit 2:

Andyzzle I like your casual flag, it is also cool. It's kind of like an elbow lever eh?

Any time limit? I mean tons of us will be able to do it for like two seconds haha.
I hope this thread doesn't turn out like the pull up thread with the majority saying they can do it, wtfshit.

well the one i did in the first pic (without using the elbow lever thing too much) i can hold for about 10 secs, the other one in the second for 20ish.
it's actually not even that hard, it's only about strenght in your arms and a little power in your abs..
btw i'm about 180lbs  haha

I mean like a proper flag and not the one where you wrap your arms round the pole haha. Thats what I meant anyway, I dunno what the OP means.

I saw this one video where people mimick the movement of a pullup while doing this, it was cool.

I actually just started to train these a few days ago. Obviously I have made pretty much no progress yet. I'm going to work on them whenever I can.
so what exercises do you guys find work best for it? iv just being holding out weight plates at different angles and handstand pushups....

i don't think there are any specific exercises to train that..i mean as you said, handstand pushups should do you some good, but i think it's more about the power in your arms as a whole..other than that: lats and abs (especially side) i guess..

General pushing strength will help alot, exercises like military press, shoulder press etc etc..

Even if it didn't it's a more useful and basic thing anyway. It looks like the lower arm is pushing and the top one is hanging on.
You get some torso stability from overhead/military press, but you'd need a lot more (primarily on one side) for the flag.
It'd be interesting to see one of those things where they show muscle activity (do they measure heat?) during a flag. It's one of those ones where the forces in action (mainly in the arm/shoulder area) are not as obvious since it's so unusual.

I find they're a lot easier if legs are above parallel so I think your body is actually supposed to stay parallel. Think around 5 seconds is my maximum time.

I can do the easy one(like the one where your hugging the pole, not arms outstretched) for about like 5 seconds.
I can do this Fully stretched at 180 lbs.

i can do them at 155lbs. prior to injury i was working on lifting my legs all the way up and back down from a dead hang. :dead:
I remember i learned this a while ago off beast skills i could hold it at maximum for like 4-5 secs now probably 1-2 secs imma start doing them again.

I find they're a lot easier if legs are above parallel so I think your body is actually supposed to stay parallel. Think around 5 seconds is my maximum time. That would be true, leveredge would make it heaviest at 90 degrees. The same should in theory apply to leg raises as well.
