My backtucks are good... excellent even,
but the other day I attempted one wearing shoes and could barely land in a squat.
Is the technique much different in shoes?
Should you stall as much?
tips? comments? shoes = evil?

you just have to train in shoes for shoes, i think. had the same problem.... still do kinda. I just mainly concentrate on the backflip more. Tight tuck, high jump, arm swing, etc.

I think I'm setting too much with shoes... Next time I'll try flipping faster =P
heh, the other day when I tried one I landed squatted, and right when I landed I reached my arms back behind my back to try to regain some balance because I was starting to lean forward... They snagged on my shirt and I fell onto my mouth from squatting height. My braces took a chunk out of the top of my lip. It was super funny.

shoes = weight.
Shoes are typically 11+ ounces unless you buy the running pairs of the specially made pairs. Even if its only 11 ounces, since its at your feet, it influences peoples tucks. I suggest if you really want to do back tucks with shoes, try with slippers or lighter shoes first (or even socks layered on top of each otehr) to get used to the extra weight

I guess I'll have to practice more. Its a very different feeling I admit. My normal backtucks are nice and floaty, and unless I open up really early, I always over-rotate and skip my feet... which hurts... >_<
So practice practice practice it is....
too bad we got had a rainstorm, and the grass is soggy

if i goto backflip with shoes on it will be lower than normal, tho if i do afew then they get ok again with shoes on. I find its because you feel the floor with your feet and it helps you judge when to do things, when you put shoes on you dont get this

I started to relearn my backs with shoes because if I have it with the extra weight I should have it fine with my bare feets

I can do them with both the same makes no difference to anything. But i wouldn't advise doing stuff shoesless on concrete or hard plastic. Unless you want great foot pain.

Ah yeah I actually learnt the backflip with shoes (way before I knew about tricking at all), I never really thought it would make that much of a difference. These were huuuuuuuuge shoes as well...
But then I saw this site and I was like "Hmm none of those guys wear shoes, I should try that." And then I tried one with no shoes and it was just incredible the difference it makes. But for me it helps being able to do stuff with shoes, mainly because you can do it any time, walking down the street, whenever. And it raises the standard of effort you use generally when tricking without shoes, which is a definate plus.

I highly doubt that those 200g that shoues weight would make a noticeable diffrence in your moves.
Its all in your head ; )
You lose power when you use shoes. When you have shoes on you cant use an important part of your feet when you do you back tuck(your toes). You just need to train you legs more I think and put more effort into it than normal.

really depends on the type of shoes and their weight o.O

Well, i bet if someone would practice the backflip with realy heavy shoes(like 1 kg each) for like 3 months i bet if he would take his shoes off he'd do a perfect realy high, landing streight backflip.
