View Full Version : Cartwheel Fulltwist to Back Handspring?

I don't ask for a lot of advice on here, but here goes:
I'd like to pull a cartwheel fulltwist to back handspring. I can do both of the moves more than well enough to put them together, my only issue is that the momentum from the cartwheel full keeps me turning after I've landed on the ground, thus leaving me unable to throw the BHS. Tips, anyone?

well depending on the height you get on your full you can open up earlier to stop the rotation, so you can combo more easily into the bhs.
i dont have any experience with cartfull>bhs but i can do cartfull>macaco>full for example. maybe it's an idea to get that and working up to change that macaco into a bhs? just a thought.

I think in order to macaco (ie: valdez?) I would need to stop most of my momentum upon landing, whereas with the back handspring I'm looking to transfer my momentum; so although it would make sense to try macaco first if it was just fear I had to get past, from when it comes to actually developing a technique for it the two are very different (in fact that macaco seems like it might be more difficult to slow down for).
I'll give it a shot nonetheless. Thanks for the response saunders ;)
Inverting the full more would mean that your momentum goes backwards instead of around yourself.
So as saunders pointed out macaco's can be pretty useful if your full isn't so inverted cause you can throw them over your shoulders rather than over your head like a BHS.
Just work on inverting the full more, make sure you set the twist so you dont just twist straight away. Think of it as a cartsideflip with a twist, this means that you go up then twist over so that your momentum will got backwards not around yourself. Which means that drilling high cart sides are a good idea.
This is all I did to get cart full > pop flash. Which is the same type of momentum change your trying to achieve.

Good advice, although I've already got pretty inverted cw-fulls. I'll try to invert a little more (I can, I just don't usually employ "maximum technique") nonetheless, because the slightest bit of extra inversion may just do it, I canna be sure.

!Try to make the distance of the full not travel to fair/ fall out of the fulltwist!
Practice with raw power locking your Hips + shoulders and torso(arms to) straight down the line, all my S/t>Gainer flashes i have to lock myself to reduce twisting!
I have done a Cart>fulltwist>Bhs

square your hips up when landing. ive somehow managed to swing thru alot of twisting moves and manage to go straight over. its all about your hip placement. if your hips are relaxed at the start your momentum will throw them from the twist. you need to land controlling your hips to go backwards. kinda hard to explain properly but thats the best i got atm

i had the same problem along with trying backhandsprings after double legs. aim for height rather than speed and power, especially if youre only doing a single twist.:)
