hey guys this is a question in reguards to filming and formatting. Iv'e got an HD camera and its going to waste right now because the fomat it shoots at is mp4 I no right werid. So im having trouble with editing clips because no program supports this format. Could anyone perhaps have an idea for what program I could use?:smile:

welcome to the real world.

This format is not quite supported as a standard format, as avchd tends to be supported better. right now you have a choice of several editing programs such as vegas and premiere, and a lot of converting. (Because once you get an editor to use the file it is choppy as hell in the preview window)

I wouldnt doubt that the new macbook pros could handle this stuff though, seeing as all their shit is natively mp4 or atleast mpeg-4. What system are you using?

thanks man for the help, Im using vista right now 32 bit. If i get vegas do you think I will have to convert the files or does it suport mp4?

Vegas pro 9 has limited support, so proxy files are generally easier. There's a tut somewhere on that. Actually with vegas 9 there is a program that can manage proxy files for you... I'll get on that tomorrow.

adobe premier cs4 has good handling on this. pity there was no crack around when I used it so after the free month was up I was screwed!

if your comp can handle this then yes. mine is blah. its only 2 years old too.

I have what was a beastly processor, but shit ram and a shit graphics card which will soon be rectified :) Also With windows 7 being less of a resource hog I'm hoping it will all be smooth :)
