I'm Korean who want to announce Tricking to my country. I used to train in America at LAVC gym. Now, I'm training alone. Sometimes, I confused the definition between tricking and extreme martial arts. I want to make sure about this. here is my thinking.

extreme martial arts - it's kind of concept of new martial arts style sports. likes X-game sports

Tricking - it's one kind of extreme martial arts. It's performance about their ability based on martial arts. likes B-boying, gymnastics.

I wonder what is 'Sports Karate'? It's Karate(empty hand martial arts) but use weapons, even I can find wushu competitor in NASKA tournament.

Thanks, guys. I always read your threads, but It's hard for me to understand. So, I write this. I'll keep searching about this. =)

it sounds like you've got the right idea about what it is and where it came from =)

are you familiar with people like steven ho?

there were a number of different generations in martial arts forms who contributed to what we have today; which is doing all the tricks in our back yards and pushing things to a higher level.

here's a list of names i've attempted to separate into "generations". the second "generation" is really where we started to see tricks. mid eighties to early nineties.

ernie reyes
charlie lee
joon rhee
john chung
cynthia rothrock

ho sung pak
ho yung
steven ho

anthony atkins
jon valera
arnold chon
carmichael simon
david douglas
mike chat
kim do nguyen

Yellwboy
Kim Do
Chris Devera
Kelly Magovern
Sammy Tu
Rick Lee

it's incredibly difficult to find videos of some of the earlier guys! you'll probably find a profile of each somewhere if you google them.

someone like sesshoumaru may be able to clarify this further.
