whats up TT,
I havent been around to update on anything since the loopkicks DVD scandal. ive been reading up on some of the discussions, and a few questions/concerns came up that i wanted to talk about real quick.
as for loopkicks camp'09, everything is looking good. we're gonna have a real campy feeling this time around. i want to put all the attention on 1) the campers first n foremost, and 2) the local youth community of san jose. a good contrast from last year's international invasion. those who are coming for the gathering portion of camp, be ready to be involved with the campers this time around. more info later..
battle formats... who knows the best way to do it really. im glad mike chat decided to reach out to the community. and im even happier that people were engaged whether positively or not. for this year's battles what i plan on doing is a preliminary showcase to whittle the numbers down to a top 8. for the preliminary showcase.. ill have everyone line up and do one pass each, and then a 2nd pass each, a 3rd pass each, and maybe a 4th pass each depending if we need it or not. this format is much like the original extreme trick/kick competitions that charlie lee held almost a decade back. then im gonna have the judges pick the top 8 from 1st to 8th place. we'll take those top 8 into the nightshow. quarter finals... 1st against 8th, 2nd against 7th, 3rd against 6th, and 4th against 5th. and then go into semi finals, and finals until we have a winner.
the cartoon network will be filming at loopkicks this year. the whole camp as well as the nightshow. theyre flipping their programming to half live action, and so theyve been looking for sumthing fresh, brand new and exciting.. sumthing geared towards the youth.. and sumthing that's not MMA and not dancing. and so they approached us about a pilot they want to film during the camp. i plan on giving them tricking the way i perceive it. if all goes thru well, the exposure for tricking could really blow up. everyone knows how i feel about exposure so there should be no surprise.. im going to attack this project in full force. and im going to oversee every step of the way to ensure that nothing fishy is going on.
theres more i want to say but we gotta road trip to prepare for. for those of you going to white lotus on saturday, see you there! in the meantime.. questions, concerns, nay says.. feel free
chrisd
edit: if you want to be part of this for whatever reason, come out the the nightshow. represent your community, represent tricking, rep yourself. i know battles can get ugly, but the inspiration far exceeds that imo.
