Asking someone to spot you is such a hassle.
Every now and then i get some idiot who practically picks up 50% of the weight for me, and i have to stop and tell them to LEAVE THAT SHIT ALONE UNLESS IM DYING GODDAMIT.
guess i have to explain to them what my definition of spot is before i start.

same here, that's why i always work out with a friend. pisses me off when you start to struggle a little bit and they start helping. bugs me just as much when i can't get it, and they yank it up and rack it. LET ME LIFT THE GODDAMN WEIGHT! if i need help, apply the MINIMUM amount of force required to help me complete the rep, don't just take it off my hands....
My friend and I always go to the gym together because we both got tired of sucky people spotting when we are working out. People at school have labled us "The Buff Brothers"....others think we are gay together, but it's not true!
Screw you, Drex. You jackass.

I was going to reply to Sigil's comment with something similar, but my connection was being gay.
I can totally relate though, I was going down once on bench and this kid grabbed the bar on the way down. Then I was benching again and this kid put his shorts on my face.
Yea, I'm gay with my lifting buddy.

I'm a terrible spotter, I won't help until the guy is just about dying under the bar, and then I lift it with just enough force that they rack it themselves.
Which is the way everyone spots me, because I tell them to.
I think my lifting partner hates me in that class.
But all the sports guys find my decent lifts and unorthodox methods of training some muscles amusing.
My partner is lame, he should quit bitching when I spot like that.

How about the guys who ask you for a spot and expect you to do most of the lifting? I laugh as they almost choke to death before I lend them the hand they've then earned. If they had used a weight they were capable of and asked me to give them 1-2 forced reps after a full set, I would have been happy to comply.
I haven't killed anyone in this manner yet... :ogre:
