I'll have some high quality ones tomorrow, since I have to get them done anyways for an Occupational Therapy project.

Haha, I'm showing the class how to break falls, and since I need to show 'gradings' (steps that can added or taken away in order to influence the difficulty of any given occupation) to each break fall (side, front, back), I'll be showing the class how to backflip/flashkick (back), flare to mill (side), and...well, still thinking about a good front one. I'm thinking axe-webster, but I think axe-aerials are infinitely cooler.

Yes. In fact, I first got it about a month ago, but it was shite. God awful shite. I consulted Papa Skilzat about it, he diagnosed my problem, and it scored him twenty bucks.

I started landing them decently...well, yesterday, haha.

EDIT: I always had two gigantic problems with the aerial. One, I never could dip correctly into it. I've usually struggled with gainer/aerial moves (got over the gainer problem early, though) because I never understood the intricacies of generating power off of one leg. As well, turning my torso made NO FUCKING SENSE AT ALL to me, ever. I just didn't get it whatsoever, and honestly, I still don't get it all the way. I just go with the flow now, but man, the aerial will forever be awkward to me.

And fuck you, Jan, haha. The aerial can be seen as a machine with a lot of small parts, and I could never get them to work together for the life of me. The torso turn has fucked with me for years.
And I cannot double cork.

Personal preferences and physical differences, I assume.

It's just flipping from one leg to the other though! Corks are like... Kicking up, flipping around AND twisting, then spotting and landing.

Lots of people have kryptonite moves. I can barely doubleleg but I can double cork. I think it comes from sinking into a comfort zone.

I think you explained it best, Ryan. The aerial has always been an uncomfortable movement for me, it's never felt 'right'. Over time, the aerial become more and more 'stigmatized', and when I kept moving on in other trick categories, the aerial remained unnatural.

I haven't thrown a snapu in nearly a year now, so I'm not sure if I can do them anymore. I'll give them a shot again very soon, however.

ah good luck then. do you have some tips for me perhaps? i'm trying to learn them atm. i can raiz, sideswipe and swipeknife pretty good but i'm landing snapus somewhere in between on my side and on my knees. i cant c720twist

Haha, for a long time kicks in general were like totally not my comfort zone at all.

Now, generally speaking, double legs are my unnatural trick - the motion has fucked with my head for years and only recently are they making any sense...

aerials, on the other hand, I can do in my sleep. :)

Well, I must say that I believe that I am not the proper authority on the move, but I will give you my thoughts anyways.

The snapu swipe *almost* requires the cheat720twist. ALMOST. Why do I say that? Because the snapu and the c720twist are so similar, but feel utterly different. You need a grasp on the c720twist, but you don't need it perfect, per se. The better you have it, though, the easier the move comes.

However, I feel that the snapu feels like a laydown 540/sideswipe...and then a REALLY FUCKING FAST btwist. The cheat720twist feels like a big turn, it's kinda scrunched up. The twist in the snapu, though, feels like you're snapping out the fastest twist you can; the twist is more straight, more even, like a btwist. As well, if you think btwist rather than c720twist, the landing psychologically comes easier, haha.

I think the most important pre-requisites to have are the b-twist, sideswipe, and c720twist, and from there, it's all trial and error. Just keep plowing it :)

thats good to hear. i land my sideswipe pretty much standing and i can standing hyperhook and standing btwistcork.
i landed c720twist once into a sandpit.
so i have a pretty strong foundation i think :smile:

snapus look so damn hard. but its my winter goal and at the beginning of this year i promised myself if i didnt learn snapus by the end of the year i would quit tricking.

It was the second attempt, because at the first one Lei was blocking my flashkick with his first aerial leg (much like the picture I posted before). I just had to do my flashkick a split second later haha.

Those were taken with a Mamiya 645 1000s, Yashica-mat EM, Canonet QL17, Canon FTb, Nikon FE, and Petri 7s

And the films were Fuji Velvia 50/100, Ilford Delta 3200, Fuji Pro 160s, Fuji Pro 800z, Fuji Provia 400x, Kodak T-Max 3200, Fuji Neopan 1600
