Hey guys,

For 540's, is laying back a helpful factor in turning your hips? Whenever I watch a 540 video, I saw their hips turn but in mine, I don't see it (well since I'm only doing a tornado). I know I'm not laying back and was wondering if laying back would be the next factor to add in?

If you want to see the video, it's here:

Oh, and yea, I think the best one on there is the 2nd one.

(Sorry for not fulfilling both requirements Mastabiff, but I always do much better kicks in that small space for some reason! I apologize  )

Nice tornado, but I don't believe you are ready to 540, yet. When I was at that stage, I did tornado combos (do 4+ tornados in a row), and that really helped me progress.

I don't know what you're talking about with the hip turn, but you can't be surprised when you see differences in different moves. Your kick is looking better, but you're still not using your arms and you're still in your fucking house. You do not need to lay back, you need to turn with more force.

You may be asking yourself "what do I turn with?" I answer: your arms, fool. Why do you think I keep bringing up the arms? Because they're fucking important. Pull them around as hard as you can, and rip them through the air when you're leaving the ground. Throw up your nonkicking leg harder.

dont worry about laying back right now, i dont think it would help to transition tornados to 540s, although it might help transition crescents to roundhouses because it actually does help hip rotation

I get the feeling that every kick trick you learn is going to be so clean it sparkles.

i dunno about the technical difficulty there, but the trick looks real boring - like ballet dancing, he's just looking like he's walking in a circle twice on the spot

WTF are you talking about? Can you even 540? Do you even trick? Please stop talking.

Hey Mastabiff!!

I finally took your advice to heart and when I tried the tornado kick using all the arm power I had, going up and around, I kicked myself in the face really hard with my knee and still had height/power to do another full circle. I guess kicking myself in the face is a good thing?

Thanks man, I'll still practice tornados until they're perfect
David

Thanks for all the tips guys

Sounds good, just kick a little lower now. Anywhere below the face will do.
You'd do well to take all my advice to heart. I shant lead you astray.
