I hate it when you use snow piles for everything.

ok...let's be serious here...in no way do you need a snow pile to do a back tuck.
1. you don't need to hold your arms at a so high in the air, instead hold them at about 90 degrees or parallel to the ground

2. when doing your initial swing through, do not pitch foreward. you're trying too hard to use your arms. don't swing your arms as much and you won't pitch foreward. pitcing foreward makes your torso have to overcompensate for your body not being straight and takes away alot of your height.

3. when jumping and swinging your arms up, REACH in the air. almost like you're trying to grab something above you, then bring your knees to your hands, not your hands to your knees. this helps your rotation

4. hands go over your knees in a tuck...it looks like you're trying to grab your ass or something.

5. don't be afraid...scrap the damn snowpile. i know it's scary and all but you seem to be rotating nicely. it's not like you're gonna land on your head. the only way you're gonna do that is if you bail...and that comes with being scared...so just don't lol.

good luck ^^

Jaja, tucking at the hamstrings is fine. Also, I don't think he was using his arms too much, but he was definitely not reaching upwards enough. I think he should've swung them harder but made sure they extended straight up rather then getting close and tucking prematurely. That said, this has been the dumbest thread ever.

I've seen gymnasts tuck at the hamstrings. It's just preference.

The tuck is generally tighter if you tuck at the shins and cowboy it rather than pull at the hamstrings, though. Just my 2 cents.

i agree, and i think it looks cooler in a tight lil' ball than your legs kinda sticking out.

i think what he means by "cowboying it" is pulling your knees apart with your hands. this gives a nice fast rotation. you'll see it alot when gymnasts are doing double back tucks.
