I've been watiching a lot of vids and reading a shitloead of threads, but I still cant get the difference between a J-stepped gainer and a reverse gainer. When u do a J-stepped gainer you turn around just like in a reverse...pleas help

Try watching Dogens, gainer tutorial, pretty sure that explains the difference.
Either way though with a reverse gainer you take a hop to change directions before you flip and with a j-step you just step through... thats a bad explanation but hope it helps.

oky... so there isnt anything called reverse j-stepped gainer ^_^ jsut wanted to be sure
whaaaaaaat a j-step is where you hop 180 degrees on one leg and then backflip off the non kicking leg.
a reverse gainer is a frontflip travelling backwards

Wrong. The definition above your post is correct.

Yeah I always thought that too cuz it makes sense...the frontflip travelling backwards is called a loser...

That's right, gainer gets it's name because you are 'gain'ing gound, going forward through your backflip and this is why travling backwards with a front flip is a Loser
a j step is just when you don't pivot on your non kicking leg :)

incorrect on both counts.
a frontflip travelling backwards is called a loser. as opposed to a gainer.
Even though I know the difference between the two, I can't seem to do gainers "non-straight forward". I always kick straight up, and I lose height from it. No matter if i do a j-step or a "normal" step, I always just do a normal gainer, as opposed to the side-gainers most people do.. Tried kicking to the side, but that didn't do much..
Any idea why this is?

your lucky i do the opposit i want to do straight but i allways go sideways
any idea why and how to fix this ? ^^
tnx
I just kick straight up. If you try to kick your own forehead, you're bound to follow.
try to kick your hand with your leg mybe you will follow
tnx ill try next time to kick my forehead^^
Is it supposed to go sideways like \ ?? I always thought it was more like.. Body facing sideways like | sideways, not body going more horizontal.
I think it should be more horizontal ( | ) than sideways ( \ )
it looks much better like that
But if you kick to the side, you will go \, not |...
yes i know but u said u wanted to go to the side so i told u how ^^
( and tnx for telling me how to go like this | )
But...but... Wtf????
I meant j-step slant gainer, which is what most people do, not just a non-gainer.
Is that what a j-step slant gainer is...?:P

My head is spinning....
no, not all j step gainers are slanted
u can actualy do a normal straight gainer out of j step
the j step is just to get loads of momentum ^^
