Aight, I want to trick, badly. But I find it hard to get myself motivated. I've spent more time in the forum publicus lately than I have spent practicing ANYTHING.

The only real thing I've done to progress is stare at a wall, attempt to do some wallflips (which ended up failing miserably for fear of leaning back), and tried some FHSs for a few hours, which, I got used to going over, but that was a few days ago and I've probably lost what little progress I made.

I know the simplest answer is indeed in my sig, but idk, I was wondering if there's anything at all you guys can tell me? Also, just out of curiosity, what gets you guys motivated? I mean, I know you listen to music while tricking; but what makes you wanna trick in the first place? So far, the things that get me motivated the most are World's Best Trickers vids, the "Dream on - trick on" vid, and thinking about the tricking to pussy ratio, lol.

Edit: Also, I have no gymnastic or MA background whatsoever.

Re-edit: This might go into the tips section...

Just imagine how cool you'll look when you learn the moves you so crave.

Bad weather is a good motivator, too. There's so much of it here, I grab any chance to trick I can by the balls and try my hardest to get something done about my lack of shizzle to perform!

i think heart is the best motivator. if your heart isn't in it, find something else for now.
why do anything if its not what you love to do or is going to enable to do what you love to do?

oh thats right...chicks

Things that lead to my tricking: Excellent samplers, fast angry metal, caffeine

One thing that can be extremely motivating is improvement...when you start to see improvement you will want to keep going... (and it will come if you're working at it and using your head) . Mix improvement with any of the above listed motivators and you've got a sick session lined up.

Duke hoff and yahtzee's summer autumn sampler usually gets me pumped up.

Routine can also keep you tricking...when you start doing it on a regular basis, you want to keep going...unless you injure youself or something.

Whenever I need motivation, I think about becoming the best tricker ever so I can court the fair Meegz and win her hand in marriage.

Yea, people will be like OMG THAZ CRAZY!!one1, especially since I live in a small place where people dunno anything but their own pathetic lives ^_^;
And bad weather motivates me TO trick, there and then, oddly enough...but a novice + tricking during a storm = death.

Yea, it's funny cuz, even though it was something SO small, when I got used to going forwards in the FHS, I got allm excited.....geez I'm pathetic lol. And I need to make me a schedule...

well i think you should get a martial arts background and a gymnastics background too if you want. but theres a book im writing and one of the sections is about motivation for tricking. you gotta think about what you want out of it and think about which moves you gotta learn to get into that dream move that you want to land. one easy thing you can do is make a list of moves you want to practice / are close to getting. Write notes next to each move that you want to remember for next session. Don't work on comboing now, focus on individuals moves for a lil while.

I have more ideas but an outside-of-tricking idea that helped me was to go watch a new funny movie or action movie that just gets you pumped to trick. I've seen so many Martial Arts movies now that a rare select few actually get my butt up and trick like crazy. Try Martial Art movies if you're not used to them yet. If they ever get played out, watch at how easily a comedy can get your ass up and trick.

The idea here is to get in good spirits through some way, and channel it into tricking. Weird and out there, but it works.

maybe you should learn how to backflip before you wallflip

it's all about improvement. i tricked last summer for the first time, learned some tricks, got injured in taekwondo, had to stop, then when i couldn't trick and i was just watching samplers, it made me want to do it that much more. as soon as i could trick again, i started progressing even faster than before, and added a ton new tricks.

i think it's all about watching samplers, seeing improvement in yourself, and finding tricks that you want to do, and learning them. it's setting goals and reaching them.

Yea, I thought about that. Here's what I think I must do...
I think I'm gonna have to learn BHS, FHS, and possibly backflip before the wallflip. This sucks though, cuz SO many people just go out and do that one trick they want...and I want the wallflip so friggin' bad >.<!

well i think you should get a martial arts background and a gymnastics background too if you want.

Man, I was scheduled to go a Tae Kwon Do class, but by bitch of a mother decided to back out of taking me @ thje last moment (I don't have my own car...), and said that she wasn't gonna sign the release form. Grrrrr....I think I'll try again soon though. Then again I turn 19 in June so I could just wait till then.
Thanks alot for the advice guys!

lol. Yea man, I wanna be a tricker regardless of what it takes....games, which used to be my thing, are just gonna distract me now. Not just from tricking, but from life. I don't wanna be a slave to a TV anymore >.<! Or be like my friend, who's life revolves around WoW or Guild Wars, or his online GF. Lol.

Find someone else who wants to trick.. tricking by yourself ALL the time is boring. Plus, if you both -understand- the technique of what you're trying to learn (even if you can't do it), your friend can help point out what you're doing wrond.. since it's often difficult to be able to tell for yourself.

Go find that Dream On video. That shit is fucking inspiring. Then look at Juji's vids. If you are appropriately motivated, you will end up wishing for long hair like so many other people did for a while, as well as perhaps even starting tricking.

Or maybe not.

Yea, I know man!

Find someone else who wants to trick..

That was the main reason I originally joined the forum -- I saw a thread titled "Alabama Trickers" or something. ALso, Juji, Tae, and a few on the forum live here, so maybe it'll happen soon...I've also registered at 540club.net.

I've got one, possibly two peolpe here that may be interested in doing it with me, but basically, alot of drama between my sister and the 2 has happened so idk...

ANd yea Tsumaru, that vid is really inspiring.

Also, I've been alot more motivated over the past couple of days, cuz I've decided that first ima try to get a decent handstand. And I got alot better just yesterday. So yea ^_^;

I dont have any friends to trick with, the summer they said they'd try it out. Also, for the wall flip to get it first try is all about balls. Very little of its technique, I think thats the one move where hucking it with no fear is actually a good idea.

Hehe yea, like I've said before, that fear of leaning back is complete ownage...
