FHS is alot easier than you think. When the gymnast coaches say that it is a fast hand stand, they couldn't be more right. The only difference is that you need a little push from the shoulders as they hit the deck and lots of momentum. You need to work on your lunge into the handstand, and keep your form. This will make you land it mouch more straight up.

You will feel like you are floating into the stand position when you do this right.

Enjoy!

When I try to do a FHS I always land sort of parrallel to the ground and roll up, almost like a somersault. I think it might have something to do with my legs not being straight or something but I'm not sure.

make sure you work ur shoulder blocking drills, keep your hands extended out as you put them to the ground. push from ur shoulders, be flexible this requires good shoulder and back flexibility to do it right. do it on the tumble track and over a roller mat.

the FHS is a move about technique, not much power is needed.

you need to keep your arms straight during the move, after the hop step reach forwards, don't just plant them down, reach very far before planting your hands down. Really kick that first leg over, and your hands shouldn't stay on the ground for long, it should just be a bounce.

Get a powerful block from your shoulders, ARCH!, and push your hips forwards to get your feet under you. Keeping your eyes focused on the hands during the movement can help you arch.

You should land almost standing, never in a squat. Otherwise, you'll never be able to connect it in a tumbling pass.

to nospine:
do you start in a lunge?
do you finish with both feet together?
do you land with your hips foreward of your feet?

The tip that really helped me was:
You should be on your hands for as little time as possible. When your hands hit the ground you should be already watching them loose contact.

The rest is just practice, and expirimenting with what works best for you.

Well, you can either learn front flysprings (FHS where legs remain stapled together throughout the whole move) or front walkovers (FHS where you land with your legs apart, ready to do another FWO or FHS). You can combo them like FWO>FWO>FHS or FHS>FFS.
