Too all you bkick experts and wushu'ists.

HELP ME LEARN HOW TO DO A PROPER FORM BKICK PLEASE!!!

Bkick setup and the whole move really, I have struggled on for awhile just to get good form and set up on it. I got some bad habbits with the move and I want to destroy them, simply because well......

1. A good Bkick is cool.
2. It will greatly benifit any form of btwists down the line.
3. Its just annoying me not to be able to do it propperly.

First thing I have noticed for awhile, but just can't seem to fix. *dies* Is that I'm cutting my dip short from coming down on an angle rather then from front to back. I freakin TRY and stay front to back and it just ends up like this. So...if you have any suggestions on anything I can try on that?!?! would be fantastic.

Also, my torso isn't coming up high enough, but I believe that is due to poor setup as well. XD

What else...errr. Oh yah, I notice upon landing I'm landing err, I dunno a bit strangely. Its not landing facing the back again so that I could enter another bkick easily. But all this could also be due to the poor set up.

Anyway any suggestions or theories on how to fix my bkick would be great. Thanx guys. :good:

youre paranoid :D you have really nice bkicks! The trick looks cool and lands nicely these two thing come from a good set up and lots of people may have different set ups. About the multiple bkicks, have you tried going to another? I think you can, because youre bkicks look better than mine and I can do multiple ones.. dont worry Its really good

Thank you. But I wouldn't call it paranoid. I just want to improve them to further my B-whatever journey.

i do wushu and since i love shido so much, i shall come out of the lurking

uhh
your bkick looks fine

if you want to perfect it more, make sure your steps are on a straight line, use your arms to help you dip more, make sure you arch your back
for wushu, before we take off, we get into a horse stance, so maybe dip more?, i cant really tell if your doing it, but pointing your toes help loads

yea
that was a shitty explanation
im sorry

Rekearb! You live in Toronto, come teach me man. Come to birchmount. lol.

I think I know what you mean about the horse stance before take off thing. I was watching some wushu vid earlier trying to figure it out. Which is why I kinda just got up and went out and tried.

Also!
Another reason I want to fix my bkick is, as you can see here in this clip.....I have the exact same problems on my btwists. So fixing this should help me have a bunch better btwist in the end.

my offer still stands shido..

If I can't figure it out on the near future, I'll take ya up on it. :punched:

when you're doing yoursetup

your dip needs to start with you looking back the way you came, you want to start w/ your body upright facing the way you and don't bring your body accross, bring it down and make the U dip. so its a full half circle, when you're coming around from below you need to throw your body up as well. so you make full use of the dip, its kinda like swinging your arm in a circle and the way it gets momentum when you come around. it should all be fluid

shido!

you have a great bkick man =D

however you can still improve it by chucking ur head up more, so your legs, body and head form an arc. you get me?

what i'm saying is that you're doing fine, but if you examine some wushu bkick vids, you look at their heads and they are way high! you legs are high enough, just get the head up high after you U-dip, and make sure your back is fully arched in the process

keep it up bro

/EDIT: as for your btwist. it's FINE man. hella nice and twisty!

Towlie has better arch then mine and is wearing shoes. So he wins.

yeah, get somemore air by not taking such a huge run up, try just hop-step and jump. the more hang time, the more flashy the move.
and jeez Towlie, where do you live?!?!?! nice place man

All you need to do is pull your upper body higher up when you pull your leading leg up.

If you see those crazy Wushu guys their head goes above their waist and they go all high and floaty.

Yeah everyone including yourself Shido stated what to fix. You pretty much knew what is was and everyone's more or less repeated it back to you. Once you fix the dip and get your head up higher that'll be AMAZING.

This is like my oldest move and while it's fairly good I can get it even better. I'm thinking of starting to drill it more and then get back to the btwist like I used to. It's been suffered again lately.

Towlie, your bkick isnt' bad, it's high and whatnot, plus props for shoes. That can lower the height of your legs a lot. Yours remind me a lot of my first ones. The one thing I'd suggest you try and fix and have your body turn a little more as you're kicking. Notice your head and torso or almost pointing towards where you're kicking until the last bit. If you can torque yourself to point more in the direction of where you came from, it'd look a little smoother and the extra rotation would be better for going into combos, not to mention a straighter line when doing so.

I think you're just looking down (in terms of your head relative to your torso) too much, and that's where the problems are coming from. Arch your back.

If you can't solve it by next year, I'll be glad to teach you lol

From my honest point of view, your bkick is too much as an aerial... Try to b-"kick" more :)

Haha your b-kicks and twists look pretty good, might want to tape it from another angle though, I can't really tell how vertical you are on either one. And even then, I can't b-kick worth a shit myself :P

You must have very low standards for an aerial then haha.

What's with all the props about shoes?

You should understand before mockering me :)

EDIT: Shido, I meant try to kick more :) I don't know how to explain it, it's like your move is too regular, you should involve into it more kicking... I hope you got it :(

Shido, I'm sorry to say this but... You're b-kicks look exactly the same as mine and I think that they are good enough where they are now... But if you want to improve take all the advice everyone has given to you, put it together, and drill it. Thats all I can say

I will never achieve 720twist from this setup I have now. Must improve. XD

make the moves more curvy and dramatic and flowing. over exaggerate everything, dip down lower, pop up higher, swing your arms wider and keep them relaxed and swing from the shoulder. same with the legs, more torque from the hips, wider more circular kicks, work on increasing your flexibility. also try bringing both your arms back behind you on the same side before you come around. this will help give you more lift for your torso.

and keep your butt down. your losing so much power by not shifting your weight from a low long front lunge through a long squat and throwing it up at take off. your lunge is short and high, try this...
get in a long front lunge right now, push your weight foward and as that momentum pushes you into a lower stance, turn your upper body from the hips, bend your back knee and pivot on your feet. shift your hips through that straddle squat (or horse stance w/e) and snap/throw the accumulated weight up when you get to a front lunge on the other side.
this should be done fast and in a consistent low->high sweeping motion of the hips, keeping a straight back, but leaning over and sweeping with the shoulders is bueno :good:

just don't bend from the waist when you bkick and keep your stance low from the hop to the jump. the hop is giving you power down and back, you want to cradle it by going in the same direction as it is so you can absorb as much as possible.

and what i was mentioning about keeping the arms back to one side, you do that throughout the weight shift and swing them out in the opposite direction during the jump. this will def lift your chest.

i hope something in there helps.

sidenote: i cannot tell if the angle is making your take off look this way or if it is this way... you look like you open to the side too early, stay facing the opposite direction your kick is going in until your foot lands and you start shifting your hips.

edit: holy hell, thats really fucking long. this is what TT gets when school didn't satisfy my Focus-in high.
