Today i pretty much fucked up a back tuck as much as one could. I landed on my face, on a gym mat, i now have rug burn up the middle of my face. Not pretty. So i got all pissed off and started looking through the forums for other help on backflips/back tucks. I found a thread, and it kinda helped but the biggest thing for me was the fact that i was scared. Later today i was thinking about it and i decided i needed to try it again, before i would be really scared and really hurt myself like my neck/back. I got my spotter to come back, but i knew what to do. I could easily get far more rotation than needed from a standing position on a trampoline, so my tuck is good. I knew i just had to do it, and there was nothing to it. You just need to realize the truth about the move. If you're scared, thats completely normal, especially after you fuck up badly. Just stop thinking, *i have to do this then i have to do this then this...* you already know and if you dont, you need to learn. After you know without a doubt what to do, dont think, just do. Thinking gets you rugburn on your face.

ahaha yes agreed. Do not think when doing a move. And this goes for any move what so ever, whether it be a double cork or just a cartwheel.

When you think during a move bad things happen. i.e my friend at gym today, he was trying a corkscrew, 360 degrees thru he thought what am i supposed to do now and he just stopped rotating and dropped straight to teh ground lol. from my eyes he went up twisted abit, stopped then fell. newayz the bottom line is, dont think at all, not even before the move, Your brain will automatically tell u what to do if uve know how to do it well enough. Dont think for your brain

It's good when learning a trick to think long and hard prior to the attempt, but the second you start to load up for your jump you should be thinking of anything but the process. Hell if you have to think of fluffy bunnies and their plot of world domination, do it. That way you don't question yourself and stall out. It took me a while to figure that one out. :ouch:

there is no "key to tricking"! seriously people... if you trick, you WILL get hurt, and you WILL get rugburn on your face! it happens to the best of us... in fact, a lot of us find crashing the funnest part of tricking... and it's not about not thinking... for the more complicated moves, you need to think... what it is, is dedication (and experience)... you have to dedicate yourself to the move... KNOW that you'll do it, or at least commit enough to not bail... the point at which you become a true trickster is when you've gained enough experience that you can try moves that you KNOW you can't do, but not bail in the middle... committing yourself to hold that twist or flip just a LITTLE bit more and trusting your feet to find that ground... and a lot of it, like i stated in parenthesis earlier, comes from experience... a lot of times, you may think to yourself, "But I think i'm doing it right! why is it just not working?!?!" But sometimes the only reason you're not making it is lack of experience... tricks take drilling... like btwist, a lot of ppl have the motions down, they just need to PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE!!! NEVER expect to nail the move on the first time... Expect the worst, but hope for the best...

well, i remember when i first did my cork like 2 days ago, i just couldn't seem to build myself to go up for it so when i did go for it, i was thinking way to much and all it ended up looking like was a stupid leg whipping motion like i was slipping on a banana or something.... so i'm pretty much agreeing with everyone by saying if you think about the trick way to much, your not goin to get nothin
