Can anyone throw me an advice on doing a tornado? I just can't kick with my leg before I am landing with the other one. I'm not even dreaming about 540's. When I kick, I'm already on the ground.. What do I need, more height? I tried that, but it didn't work. Jumping much still makes me kick just when I've touched the ground... :eh:

well..try practicing inside crescent kicks without any jumps or spins first. for me, the tornado kick is about flow, so uh..try to flow, from the swinging of the arms to the the rotation of the hips and torso to the actual kick being thrown in midair and following thru, its flowing like that. n watch sum videos. i dont a video to show u at the moment, i'm sure somebody around here does tho.
dun forget to have fun practicing :good:

I didn't have any problems with the move...but then again I take tae kwon do,just throw your first leg and jump, then throw a cresent,as long as you have a decent cresent kick you should get this move quikly.

i had a terrible time learning tornado kicks. i had to learn them a day i started to come down with the flu and my head was so stuffy that i couldn't get the timing down and my body was weak. but i had a strict son of a wushu bitch forcing me to drill them over and over until i got it. it worked, but i did have two other people to observe.
my advice, download a really sweet tornado vid that you can run through by frames. then watch, practice, watch, practice... over and over until you get it.

Thank you for your help, I'll try to keep that in mind. I seem to have problems with the proper timing and Im concentrating very much on doing a kick rather than a trick. (and I'm always having fun ;))

I think juji's 540's/tornados are pretty good looking. it's all personal taste, sharp.

Die karl.

Throw your arms up and step into the move hard. Practise a 360 crescent to get the spinning motion down if that helps, and just get used to the feeling of spinning in the air. Drill them.

Don't think it'll help too much, but hey, i'm open to suggestions too. i slowed down a couple of clips.

Im still in the process of learning tornado kicks but heres what im doing.

What ive been doing to get air is try and dig my foot under realy far and throw my arms up as hard as i can without throwing myself off balance. Right now since ive got a lack of technique im trying to overcome it with power which seems to be working well enough at the moment.

Well, after you get real good with the crescent, you can move to roundhouses. They are just a little more difficult.
