ok well i got my tornado kick down near perfect and I've been watching juju's tuts nonstop for 3 days now and nearly got the kick down. This is is my problem tho i cant seem to land on the foot i kick with for some reason and its just annoying the hell out of me and I've even tried doing certain changes that helped and payed attention more to where my head was facing and made sure to throw my arms up hard but just cant seem to get that full wrap around it seems like my left leg is just coming down automatically (kicking with right leg btw). Can some1 plz give me some advice anything that may have helped you out if u had this problem.

Here is what I have been doing.

Take a stick about your shoulder height, maybe a jo staff or something.
Hold the top of it with your left hand, throw your right hand, shoulder, and hip back, then launch your left knee up as far as you can (Keep it up there! but do it naturally, because you have the staff as a sense of security.) and use this motion and the motion of launching your right side forward to pull off a jumping crescent kick with your right leg. After about a good 3 days of hard practice with this, or whenever you start landing on your kicking feet, drop the staff, work on spinning before you throw up your left knee, use the spinning momentum and toss your kick. You will soon start landing the kicks.

It's all in the hips. Pushing your hips out a bit helps to send the kick out and around faster. My 540's are that great, but I land them consistantly since about 2 weeks ago. Dunno exactly what it is, but try experimenting with your hip placement..

After you've thrown the non kicking leg up and it's at its highest point concentrating on keeping that leg in that position and kick 'over' the left leg by rolling the hips while keeping the left leg in the exact same position (this is for a 540 with an inside crescent kick btw so I don't know if the same applies if you're doing a round kick). If you look on juji's 540 tutorial you'll notice that in the 3 slides of the start, middle and after the kick about half way down the page, his non kicking leg stays in the same place which doesn't usually happen in a tornado kick because you need to bring the non kicking leg back down to land. To get a feel of turning your hips you could try sitting down on a sofa or something with your non kicking leg resting on table of about the same height and bringing your kicking leg over it as a slow crescent kick while the left leg stays where it is.

So basically throw that non kicking leg up as hard and high as you can, once its up there keep it there and kick over it by rolling your hips using the where the left leg meets the hip as the center of turning or whatever its called. Hope that helps.

Work on standing 540 spins. Just stand, and then jump and spin. Once you can successfully do a 540 spin like that and land with your feet about where they started, then you should be able to 540. While your workin on this, work on pushing your hips up in your tornado kicks and leaning back.
It should come pretty easily if once you can do a standing 540 spin and a nice tornado kick, so work on just doing a standing 540 spin.

this is the biggest load of shite EVER.

-----------------------------------------

if you drill tornados all the time then you'll get into the habit of landing on the non kicking leg.

try slowing it down, lift the non kicking leg and just hop onto the kicking leg, just to you know what it feels like to land on one leg.

then just tornado kick and force youself to land on the kicking leg.

my 540 help video is in the all-star guides and writeups thread.

That is absolute shit advice...

540 is a trick where if you just keep practicing tornado.. you WILL get it, so drill on!
