Hey guys. Ive been working on my backflip for about a month. I have a video on my progression on it. Starting from my first backflip to recently.

Link is http://download.yousendit.com/B15C684B1A4CC7D6

what i want to know is i have trouble just jumping straight up and gaining more height. When ever i try to jump straight up i tend to land bad. But when i do them regularly i land better then if i would try to jump straight up. Comments and suggestions gladly appriciated!

um, you see on my avatar how my legs just fully extend then I tuck, I'm not holding them down long enough, if you look at your vid, you tuck as you are leaving the ground almost before, you don't have to swing your arms up, then back, then up, just down then up (makes it look super sloppy) you could try to tuck tighter. but the one thing that will make it super easy to land is not throwing your head back, that back tuck of mine is not my best one, its every one (actually I'm better now) what I'm getting at is that if you don't throw your head back then it will be easy to land. when you don't put your head back then it makes it super easy to jump straight up because your not fighting against your motion.

You have some good backs there, but Dovicka speaks truth. Some of your backtucks aren't very tucked, when you look back, it straightens out your body thus eliminating some tuckage. Also your center of gravity (see Dogens Center of Gravity Tut) seems to move a bit. The perfect standing back will see that stay in the same spot, or maybe moving up as you jump. Try focus on getting that as stationary as possible somehow. Some of that might be near impossible to work out, but improvements can ALWAYS be made. :)

It's a freerunning move. Basically you do a handspring over a rail. Dive towards the rail, go into a handstand and flick over.
