View Full Version : Gainer Flash and Hyperhook

For some reason I can't land the gainer flash and I think it has nothing to do with my height as I have seen much lower ones landed. I'm sure it's my body position at landing or me not kicking (I feel like I kick real hard but I guess everyone's body lies something chronic!). Any feedback..?

As for my hyperhook... I CAN HYPERTWIST EASY, WHY CAN'T I BLOODY HOOK AT THE END!!! Every time I open up my hips to kick my balance goes and everything. Is it something to do with the body position at landing? I know that I'm still inverted and the real good ones I see are standing up at the time of the hook. Is that what it is..?

I know that they are completely different levels of ability (people say the gainer flash is easy - I say it fuckin isn't and has took me ages!). But any help would be greatly appreciated.

with hyper hook you need to get more rotation then a standard hypertwist. You need to get your hips open and upwards so the kick can just snap out. So wait longer.

Oh and dont know what to tell you about your gainer flash, cept you could easily be landing those lol. I dont know why you are falling.

Yeah the gflash in normal speed looks like you should land, but fall over instead haha. In slowmo, it looks like your foot is coming down at an odd angle in relation to your body and the floor...almost like the blade of your foot is landing, rather than the ball.

So I dunno, spot your landing more and try to go straighter? Some might say try arching a bit but....dunno about that.

How do slant gainer attempts go?

Slants are ok. I can land them ok. The problem is that they are not a flash!! lol I know exactly what you mean about the foot though now I have watched it again! I will definitely work on that. I will also try the arching thing (I'm not the most flexible so we shall see how it goes). I will vary the upper body position next week and see if I can finally get a landing.

Anyone else have any good advice..?

When you land the gainer flash, pick your chest up a little bit. Although I do my gainer flashes from the forward gainer (I JUST recently started to drill the reverse takeoff, which is infintely better) takeoff, it REALLY helps when you land to pick your chest up and trying to keep it parrellel to the floor, rather than letting it drop all of the way down. All of that momentum from your upper body is coming with you, and it's dragging your whole body forward, which is letting your foot touch ground, but the rest of your body keeps going. Also, try your hardest to reach for the ground with that leg, reach for it with your toes and your heel. You have gflashes just like Alpha, you should go to him for advice as well :)

for g flash i think that, in your take off, because you are turning yourself through such an angle, almost facing the way you have come from it is causing you to rotate as you are landing, which i think is throwing you to the floor, do the exact same thing, except in the take off, try to only step round so that your take off foot points towards that wall, rather than where you came from. try using your arms a bit more aswell.

your height is good man, focus on looking at the floor after you go up, spotting the landing helps alot imo

hyperhook, pretty much what jon said

i do this too get hyper-hooks down., i think of doing a double twist but, then my leg drops naturally and open up then just hooks'. think of a double twist rather than a hyper-hook. <-- works for me

I'm not quite ready to try the double btwist but thanks for the advice. I've tried it into a pit but as soon as I think to twist twice my technique goes to complete shit.

Oh yeah.... And on Monday I landed a Gainer flash easy!!! Didn't have my camera but i will have next week and I will be posting the video to prove that your advice works a treat! Sick Panda you were right. I was slanting slightly and my head was telling me I was going straight. I just put a bit more momentum in and made sure I was going completely backwards.

It's always a tiny bit of technique that I'm missing! The odd bit of advice and the trick just comes straight away!
