Default quick question for splits

how do u practice for side splits?
ive heard that thrusting ur pelvis forward is bad(something to do with ligaments and the femur) and that that way u can never do a split.

i wonder if im doing it right. i usually stretch sit on the floor against the wall. is it the best position to get side splits?

Juji really walks you through the whole side split positioning thing on the site. His flexiblity articles should be able to answer a lot of your questions.

that guy's very flexible...
there r a lot of exercices but i dont know which ones are envolved in a side split, except the side split itself which is a bit painful.

Well think about it. Try to do a side split. What muscles do you feel are being stretched? Then stand up, take a moment, and then stretch those muscles. The runners stretch is basically half a split. The frog stretch is basically half a split. The butterfly stretch is like, I dunno... a quarter split? Pretty much any exercise/stretch that opens up your hips and stretches your hamstrings will help you achieve a split.
