Are you trying to tell us you're stretching the splits?

i want to learn flares too and i'm far from being flexible enough for them, but i'll start working on it soon. i think you need to do lots of active stretching with your legs as far apart as possible. don't just train splits.

Yes that's true, even if you don't want flares static active stretches kick ass and everybody should do them. They really help for all kinds of flex no matter what the fuck anyone says, even kicks.

That V stretch you are doing is the right idea, you'd want to try to make that V as wide as possible until it's practically the straddles. In fact, training for the straddles would be great too! When doing the V stretch make sure your toes point to the ceiling since they are worked with that way in Flares for much of the rotation until it gets to the straddle planche part in which case it is more like a standard straddle. So that's why both the V stretch and straddles are good stretches for flares.
I'd suggest not doing the stretch everyday if it hurts you. Try just every other day. |

Hey Jamie, can't you come over to the health & nutrition as well as the Training forums and post your opinions in the kids' threads there? We could use your support.

Oh, I go there sometimes, but often people already post all the good information before me. I'll try to visit it more often though!
