Well, I have no history really, growing up I tried karate (was in it for 4 weeks, got out because I couldn't do situps without the instructor using his finger to push me up, which was embarrasing) but thats it.
I've never been active, I've never done school sports, I don't get out too much really. I grew up sitting behind a computer screen most of the time. Right now I am 5'5 147lbs (dont know BF%) I am not skinny but I am not FAT either (I do have a large gut/stomach but barely any fat anywhere else). Right now my workout is: 80pushups (usually sets of 10) 100bodyweight squats (usually sets of 25 or 35) and I do Curls about 5-7sets of 10reps (at about 35lbs ((i'm very weak))) I do not have access to a gym, except for Wednesdays at school where I usually do benchpresses of 55lbs (1set 10 reps) 65lbs (1set10reps) 75 (1set10reps) then I usually do tricep extensions of 60-70-80lbs (1set10reps for each) I'd stay there longer if the period didn't end :( I'd like to be stronger, and slimmer (and possibly be able to trick in the future) and for once be able to go to the beach and not be embarrased to take off my shirt :) As for being slimmer I know that takes a good diet and I am trying to figure out a 5meal a day diet but it's hard to figure out how I can do it with school being in the way (I read Juji's article and it will help with planning in the future.) -I do not take any supplements of anykind- Lately I've started to try to get in shape. Lifting weights trying to do cardio etc. I suppose an honest assessment would be that I am overweight, I've been told I look like I weight more than I really do. I know I'm out of shape and it's time to do something about it. Thanks for any help. |

It seems like you are heading in the right direction for what you have available to you. Keep doing what you're doing until you can get access to a gym.

Also, how is it that you lift more on tricep extensions than you do on bench??? As far as diet, just don't eat the crap you know you shouldn't be eating and focus on the stuff you know you should be eating. When it comes down to it, being in shape is a matter of will-power. Yeah, everyone wants to be in good shape, but it takes work and so everyone just gives up. |

EDIT: Ah yes. The ever annoying goal of being able to take your shirt off. Let me tell ya, work those lats and abs, lose that weight and bulk up dem traps and you'll be a shirtless wonder. Oh, and pecs and arms too. Can't forget the pecs. And if you think you're weak, I can hardly curl 25, and I'm 13. But I try to increase the weight I lift by 5 pounds every week. Thats just a personal thing, give it a shot, but I don't know if it'll work for you. |

Maybe what I was doing wasnt a tricep extension, the one i know for SURE was a tricep extension was 40-50-60 (tried 70 but couldnt do it right) excuse my ignorance. Turns out I thought two different machines were tricep extensions (one was with a rope one was with handles) Thanks for your help guys! |

Sorry for the bump, just letting you know I'm going to try to get pics soon.
Edit: i've tried to do lunges with two 20lb dumbells and they are too heavy for me, i've got access to two 8lb dumbells (dont have any higher besides the 20) I do have a barbell and some weights that I could adjust. Any opinions or help? Last edited by BigTruck; Feb-27-06 at 02:55 PM.. |
