Default Help for a New Guy?

Hey all! As the title basically states, I'm pretty new at all of this. I'm an average senior in Highschool; no real extracurricular activities, sports, etc. I train on my own time, but casually. I'm a bit out of shape, but that's why I'm here! I'll put my general 'physical' stuff below in regards to Martial Arts and the likes.

-Light training in Karate.
-Light training in Taekwon-Do.
-Casual training in the Gym.

What I'm trying to accomplish is the following:

-Get myself to a great level of physical condition.
-Learn various forms of self defense, including CQC and some other styles that I haven't yet decided on...any suggestions?
-Possible melee weapons training.

I feel that getting tips from the people here may help a lot in terms of getting myself to peak condition and the beginnings of learning things that may have practicality in self defense and overall...well, tricks.

If anyone has some suggestions in terms of physical training regimes/routines (generally stuff I'd do in a gym), or things to get myself started with Tricks; I'd mightly appreciate it!

Thanks again!

That is very, very general. Deadlifts, Squats, and Clean n Jerk are the big 3 for tricking. If you feel like you arent being enough of a poser, you could always throw in some bench for good measure.

Flex mutant's stretching regime in flexibility is also worth adhering to, and there is a list of most tricks you could want to ddo in Guides and write-ups.

Bench doesn't have much use in tricking, or anything else for that matter.

Well when I quoted him, all he said is what was in my quote, so I assumed he was talking about the 3 power lifts.

Handsprings are one kind of trick involving a pressing movement, but an explosive press, like in the clean & jerk, would be superior.

Anyhoo, Tstriet, two of your three goals are to learn martial arts. We can't help you there beyond telling you to find a legitimate qualified instructor. As for the 'great physical condition' part, that's very vague, but I'll give you some pointers to do research on:
Isometric stretching for strength and flexibility.
High weight, low rep training of a few big compound lifts (usually a squat variation, a deadlift variation, an upper-body pressing movement and an upper-body pulling movement) for strength.
Plyometrics and explosive weightlifting for power.
Tabata intervals for fat loss and endurance.

Search the forums, read the flexibility section on the main part of the site, use Google, break copyright by downloading free books from here
