As usual, i went to the gym today with a friend of mine, bert. Bert has quite possibly the biggest biceps for a guy his size you've ever seen, but thats not what this is about.
His brother rows for england, and is INCREDIBLY strong/ripped. On talking to him, he explained how doing squats is benefitial to the growth of muscles in the entire body. his reasoning that this: because your legs are massive muscles (relatively) if you work them in the right way, your body will release alot of growth hormones. Therefore squats = maximum growth hormone release? your views please. |

This is true :) Why do you think you NEED to squat? Also, heavy compounds (squats) enduce more testosterone production.

Yes, it's correct. Weight training is as much about stimulating the endocrine system as the muscles.

Squats just do it to the highest degree, deadlifts, bench presses, and pullups also give you the same effect, just not quite as much as squats.

Hmm... not deadlift or trap bar? They use a lot of muscle too, and add in more of the arms than squats.
