Default Back handspring problems (not fear)

Wow, I've finally got over the fear without a spotter. This is how I did it for those people who like me, lose sleep over fear. (Then i'll state my problem)

Get the matress from your bed and stick it on the floor. Then land back on it a few times to show you it's not scary. If you have a really bad matress like me and it gets you winded, put some sheets on top, but remember the more sheets, the harder the move will be. But this is not important for now, put on as MANY as you feel comfortable.

Then do what it says in many tutorials, go into a sitting position, then practice falling back onto your hands. It took me about 30 minutes before I could do this without twisting out. Do this standing on the bed and keep doing it. Eat coffee beans and put on thrash metal if you wish, getting psyched is good, but don't frustrate yourself :P. I guarantee you, you will still be frustrated, but don't give up, drill this for an hour until you can fall back on your hands. You know it's safe because you've already fallen back on that mattress. The first time you fall back properly you won't expect it, because you will have expected to do it so many other times lol. Then try drilling the rest of the move, and take away cushions/sheets etc until you're just on the matress. Then take away the matress and use just sheets etc.

Ok my problem.... Whilst sweating away going back, I end up going in a backwards roll. My hands bend and my head ends up touching the ground. At first I thought my hands were too far back, but they were too far back because they bent. How do I stop this?

EDIT: Oh yea I do the pelvic thrust in the air thing, and it helps a lot.

This is stupid advice but you must stop bending your hands. Maybe you haven't won the fear properly yet? If you had a vid it would be easier to try to help you.

I got it on camera but haven't got any way to put it onto computer until i get some money, well... i could try and webcam the lcd display lol. I'll keep trying it then, i might also make it less padded becuase that will make it harder anyway and maybe I'm relying on the padding too much?

EDIT: They say jump like a bitch, well I find jumping like a sadist helps. I usually hit the ground at the back of my head, unless I really go for it when it's the top of my head. I'd rather it just be my hands mind... Is it possible that it could just be the matress giving too much padding and my hands going through a bit so my head touches? I don't wanna find out the hard way and break my head, if that's possible?

Ok I need help now. I still have bent hands, it's more like a badly done back headspring lol. They just don't straighten even when I give it all I got. Should I just keep trying? It's just my neck is starting to ache...lol

You need to get support so that you can fearlessly correct a technique that it sounds you have drilled regularly. If you can't get this move then take a break from it and go learn something else, just throwing yourself backwards onto your head is not only going to probably never get fixed with you just practicing alone (without support) but also you will get discouraged and possibly even hurt. Restudy the techniques. It sounds as though you are trying to do the BHS from the wrong angle, and are sitting/leaning/falling down too much. Your arms must stay locked, this can be thought of as a jump back to handstand... not headstand. There should be almost no space between your locked arms and your ears, that is how tight your body should be.
