Default Improving Explosivesness

I have this problem: I am stronger and bigger then my friend. Meaning that I can bench more and so fourth. But still, he punches harder than I do. This has to do with explosiveness, right?

How do I develop explosiveness? By increase the speed of my lifts? I don't have access to a heavy bad wich sucks ass.

Thanks in advance!!

its not all about bench pressing.

yes explsoiveness will play a part in improving your punching power.

However theres also a great deal more muscles then simply tri/pecs/ant delts involved in punching - theres muscles all over the body that come into play.

and theres technique as well...

1) Plyometrics
2) Get a heavy bag and/or join a boxing gym.

Get someone to teach you how to punch correctly. You push with the legs and twist with the hips and transfer power from many muscles all over your body into your arm and fist. We can't teach you proper form online.

Lift all your weights as fast as possible, even in powerlifts. Deliberately lifting slowly trains you to be slow. Search the forum for threads on plyometrics; there are a few good ones. Try ballistic lifting, like olympic lifts and their derivatives.

I'm not punching improperly, I know how to throw a punch. I've trained boxing and martial arts since I was a kid. The guy punches without any hip motion or anything, but he is still able to punch stronger than I do.

I know that it isn't all about benching. You need a good overall strength in order to throw a good punch as you use most of your muscles when you punch. Legs muscles when pivoting and pushing, hip muscles when rotating into the punch, abdominals to contract at hit and so fourth.

This guy has never done any MA or similiar training at all.

You're going to have to be a bit more specific because you seem to be contradicting yourself.

Try punching the bag with wrist weights, it helped improve my power a lot. The only problem with it is trying to fasten the weights to your wrists rigidly so they don't move too much. That and getting good quality ones that can handle the impacts (mine kept getting ripped). Or you could shadow box holding dumbells (but thats not nearly as fun).
