For almost everyday this past week, after I jog only about 1/2-1 mile, the bottom of my foot cramps up like crazy.
Is it good to stretch it after it cramps, do I put on ice/heat, or RICE or whatever? Oh yeah, and my shins have been starting to hurt a lot after I jog, and they even swell up sometimes, like on the very front where it seems like just skin and bone. I'm not sure if it's shin splints though, is this common? |

Ive had various problems with cramp over the past months, and everyone recomends different minerals etc etc. Theyve come and gone, and ive tried to link them to differen dietry factors, but the most compelling is potassium. When I started taking a glucosamine supplement, containing KCl, the cramps stopped.
Try potassium! |

Eat bananas for potassium.
I'm no doctor and I can't diagnose you over the internet, but what you're describing sounds like the mild tendonitis I got during cross country season. Just stretch it out a lot and ice it immediately after exercise. |

IF my calculations are correct, Potassium makes up 23.4% by weight of my glucosamine sulphate 2KCl, which is 234mg in each 1000mg pill. Not a huge amount of potassium considering the RDA of like 3500mg... but it seems to really work, fuck it
--Joe EDIT: heh, last week when I ate SHITLOADS of sun-dried tomatoes, I got no cramps. 3427mg K per 100g rofl. |

Make sure you're well hydrated.
Calcium, Vitamin E, Magnesium, Vitamin A, and Potassium deficiences all can cause cramping. Imbalance between some (magnesium and potassium) can also do so. Check out: http://alternative-medicine-and-heal...s/legcramp.htm |
